My brother and I own a piece of land left to us in a family will. We're in the UK.
The inquiry has been handled by cousins on the Island and they say they keep getting fobbed off and don't know where to go next.
As I understand it, the land in in the no go zone near Famagousta but that's all we know.
I was told to contact NATO but where do you start? Anyone got any ideas to help us?
Be grateful.
Thanks

You will need a copy of the title deed and a topografiko. This is the only way to identify your plot. Nato / UN have nothing to do with this.
if you have title deeds that are out of date you need to get them updated and you can get a topografiko from the land registry at the same time.
You may need to declare the land as being yours if it was never done as a result of the war.
Don't expect to do anything with it though, until the country is free again.
The Famagusta land registry is in Larnaca, just of the road to the airport. Turning opposite to the Phaneromeni church.
You say keep getting fobbed off, but by whom and on what grounds? You will need to explain in more detail. You either own the land or you don't. You either have official documentation or you don't. If you have papers, it should not be too difficult to establish its location size, and get everything upto date. You will need it if you ever intend to sue anyone.
Good luck
P.S. No good calling the land registry, you really ought to go in person to get anything done.
