How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

You've boasted so many times that your Turkish jets are just 5-6 minutes away from Cyprus so it's only fair that Turkey's be dismantled too.

You know full well that once they go they can never return...thats why you demand they leave so you have free range to do as you wish.

That's exactly what we're accusing you of so I guess we're stuck again...

According to the “List of countries by military expenditures” table…

Turkey 12th
Greece 22nd
Cyprus 82nd

A defenceless Cyprus is not an advantage to anyone but those that want to steal its wealth. The recent Turkish threats over the oil exploration are an indication.

It has nothing to do with security of TCs etc. And it is amazing to see how leaders of both sides are trapped thinking wise in 1963 and cannot see future threats. In fact most Cypriots are trapped in the past, the 50s, 60s 70s.

Look ahead a little and then you realise that Cyprus not only needs its own armed forces but needs to be able to project power to defend its offshore resources because it is an island nation and cannot risk being in the shadow of any neighbor.

I'm not sure about the accuracy of those figures. According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Turkey spent $11,663 billion and Greece spent $9,706 billion in 2008. So the gap in military spending between the two is not all that big, especially considering Turkey's army is much larger than that of Greece.

Cyprus spent $415 million in 2008 according to SIPRI.

From the above figures it is obvioius that some people in Turkey are becoming super rich from the military budget.

38 bucks times 70 million is a pile of money and not much to show for it. The hardware is about equal for Turkey and Greece, so the money is being siphoned off somewhere.
