I am absolutely sure that the very sign "IF YOU DARE COME AND GET IT!" was the motto written in huge letters on one of the buildings ınside the National Guard military complex in Famagusta - so that it could be seen from the main road leading into the Turkish quarter (old city).

Guess what GR? That is exactly where I did my military training, because TC soldiers occupy it now. The new motto reads "I DARED AND I'VE GOT IT!"

Do not tempt faith my dear...

You’re still drunk from the spoils of the 74 one sided war...

Come and “demilitarize” the Cyprus National Guard TODAY!

And I will then call you a “balligari” 8)

Do you mean like the Tanks Lurucadis took off you in 74?

OK we will need to import more tanks! Obviously the 20 T34 tanks of the National Guard are not enough to fulfill the claims of the various "tank eaters" of 1974. The Turkish Air Force claims to have destroyed more than 50 tanks, the army "several dozen" while the special forces say they blew up a few in night raids. Now add to those claims the tanks supposedly captured and destroyed by various locals and the National Guard must have had more tanks than the Israeli army.

Nikitas 4 were destroyed in Lurucina. 2 of those are positioned on the hills west of Lurucina pointing towards Larnaca. I don't deal in dreams. I'll find some pictures for you if want. These are inescapable facts.

The 4 “tanks” you keep mentioning are a joke and belonged to the Greek contingent!

There’s a little “74 captured” open-air museum somewhere in the occupied territory where they display 6-7 captured/destroyed vehicles, most of which are personnel carriers!

That was the whole 74 “national guard” in 1974!

YFred, I simply added the various claims of Turkish forces. The do not add up, unless you include in the figures Turkish vehicles hit by friendly fire, which we know is a habit of large armies, not just the Turkish one.

They admit that there were casualties due to naval artillery shells falling short in Kyrenia, of mistargeted artillery strikes in Myrtou, misplaced mines in Karavas (where they also hit a BBC reporter) and above all the sinking of one ship and serious damage to two others.

The pilots who hit all these target were rewarded with houses in Karmi and the title of Gazi (victor over the infidels).

The silouette of the T34 is distinctive, being a sort of polyhedral shape. The M48 is more rounded. The NG had no M48s yet some are exhibited as being hit in 1974. We are free to draw our own conclusions.

I am not familiar with the conversation here but this right here I`d like to say something FYI... In modern Turkish the word means "war veteran" and has nothing to do with religion or fighting for/against people of any religious denomination.

By the way: I am still waiting for you to show some evidence/documentation on your repeatedly mentioned `Yavuz debacle`.
