Why do the Turkish Cypriots need an army?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Hermes » Tue Sep 29, 2009 8:59 pm

As we all know, one of the roles of the Turkish army in the north is to keep the T/Cs in their northern enclave and to gradually replace them with settlers from Anatolia until there are no T/Cs left. It would be ironic if T/Cs are actually serving in the army that actually seeks to eliminate them. But nothing would surprise me.

From 200,000 down to 75,000 in a few decades. Even the most extreme G/C nationalists couldn't have done the job as effectively as the Turks. Turkey has committed another genocide. This time of the T/Cs.

The numbers don't lie. The T/Cs were once the largest minority in Cyprus. Since the Turkish occupation they are now a minority within an enclave without recognition or status. It's a terrible fall.

Not even the most extreme G/C could imagine such an act of ethnic elimination and exodus. The irony is that it is entirely self-inflicted. The T/Cs have no-one to blame but themselves. They turned to mother Turkey only to find that Turkey couldn't care less about their survival or their culture.

It's probably too late for the T/Cs. Their only hope is a place in a united Cyprus within the EU which guarantees their human rights. Something that Turkey cannot give them. Time is running out fast. Soon the T/Cs might go the way of the dodo. 75,000 left. That is close to an endangered species.

TCs, primarily emigrated because of economic reasons... most of them have second homes in TRNC. Living abroad does not mean TCs r becoming extinct in TRNC. Most of them looking forward to return their homeland when better economic circumstances appear.

What an idiotic statement ...

Is Cyprus just about "holiday homes" for TCs then?

What a waste ...
