From 200,000 down to 75,000 in a few decades. Even the most extreme G/C nationalists couldn't have done the job as effectively as the Turks. Turkey has committed another genocide. This time of the T/Cs.
Can you tell me where you were so generous in our preservation....
The numbers don't lie. The T/Cs were once the largest minority in Cyprus. Since the Turkish occupation they are now a minority within an enclave without recognition or status. It's a terrible fall.
Not even the most extreme G/C could imagine such an act of ethnic elimination and exodus. The irony is that it is entirely self-inflicted. The T/Cs have no-one to blame but themselves. They turned to mother Turkey only to find that Turkey couldn't care less about their survival or their culture.
It's probably too late for the T/Cs. Their only hope is a place in a united Cyprus within the EU which guarantees their human rights. Something that Turkey cannot give them. Time is running out fast. Soon the T/Cs might go the way of the dodo. 75,000 left. That is close to an endangered species.
