Why do the Turkish Cypriots need an army?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I have been to Turkey and it is a shit hole third world country and that's what they have turned north Cyprus into.

And still you have to deal with it...tough.

Wouldnt you just love that...well it aint gonna happen they are here to protect us and stop you GCs from doing anything stupid yet again.

The Turkish army has protected you so well you've become a minority in your own enclave, unrecognised, over-run by settlers, facing economic ruin and cultural annihilation. Now we are told you can't even speak your own dialect. How much more humiliation do the Turkish Cypriots need to endure at the hands of the Turkish army?

The most fanatical G/C couldn't have dreamed of such a scenario of ethnic cleansing. Then again, it was a Turkish invention so we shouldn't be surprised.

Deja vu???

I seem to have encountered this scenario in Cyprus's history somewhere before. Oh ye I remember now. 1963 to 1968.

GC's need to ask themselves what choices they left for the TC's.

Yes, the TMT orchestrated that prelude, too!

Yaaaaaawn. This is what you call a retort?

Sorry if facts feed your narcolepsy. Explains why you live in a fact-free area ...

Indeed your "Facts" bore me incredibly. Next you'll be claiming that the TMT empowered the Junta in Athens to stage the coup of 1974. And as to who lives in the fact free area, well that would be really hard to say, except of course for you, so full of facts.

When did AmericanGC visit Turkey and where if I may ask? AND (if) did he ever visit North Cyprus?

Turkey is not a third world country and is fast becoming a very competitive economic power in Europe - Middle East. I suggest you visit one of the major cities in Turkey before making such rubbish comments!

In fact they have turned North Cyprus into a much livelier place than the South. I was shocked to see the relatively empty streets of lifeless GC part of Nicosia all the way to Larnaca, when I dropped off some friends from UK.

Come to Kyrenia at any time of the evening from Nicosia and there is a non stop stream of cars in both directions as well as on all the main roads in town! We have soup-houses, kebab houses, small supermarkets, music bars, sweet shops, pastry shops on every main road open all night!

We have festivals and events at a different high street in Lefkosa, Girne and Magosa every weekend as well as the surrounding villages for 3-4 months throughout Summer - AND they are all full of visitors/tourists until late at night. We have orange festivals, wine festivals, olive festivals, folk dancing festivals, music festivals, fashion festivals etc etc...

Carry on dreaming American! This is where people are really enjoying life - with or without money or embargoes! :)

I was a Officer in the United States military, I lived in Turkey and saw much of the country including the Kurdish ghettos. And I stand by my statement that Turkey is a poor shit hole. Don't get me wrong the American servicemen have a good time with the local Turkish women but the country sucks. I have been to north Cyprus and it's sucks as well, south Cyprus is so much better it's not even a match. Why do you think the property is so dam cheap in the north.
Don't give me this "Turkey is fast becoming a very competitive economic power" I have been there and compared to the United States, Greece, RoC, and most other places I have been Turkey is terrible. But I have been to Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia and Turkey is better so that's something I guess.
