Eroglu says it is not important from where a person comes as long he is a Turk, adopt the “citizenship of the TRNC” and defend the “state”
Turkish Cypriot daily Gunes newspaper (28.09.09) reports that Dervis Eroglu, self-styled prime minister of the breakaway regime, has said that his “government” is working taking into consideration “the existence of the TRNC”. In statements during a feast organized by the “TRNC” Black Sea Association, that is, the Turkish settlers who came illegally to the occupied areas of Cyprus from Turkey’s Black Sea region, Mr Eroglu said that everybody’s duty is to defend the “TRNC”, breakaway regime in the occupied areas of Cyprus, and added: “The important thing is for the TRNC people to defend its own state. We have this understanding when we govern. Let a person come from wherever he wants, as long as he is Turk, adopts the citizenship of the TRNC and defends the TRNC state. This is our slogan, our view”. Mr Eroglu said that he supports that the settlers from Turkey should live in the occupied areas in tranquillity and security. Addressing the settlers at the feast, Mr Eroglu alleged “the occupied areas of Cyprus is their “own homeland”.
