We've already dealt with Turkey countless times here and constantly on my website... it's the Greek nationalist clowns like you that we must also deal with, who are giving Turks a good reason not to budge.

If I am a greek clown what are you a turkish nationalists clown. You use foul language and you know I am right. No Turkish military should be allowed or tolerated in Cyprus. No one has the right to tell another person where to live, where to work and how to worship God. If you don't believe this than you are a traitor.

He's a traitor to what: Greek Nationalism? I have had my share of disagreements and spats with GR, but he believes that Cyprus should be Cypriot - NO GREEK, BRITISH, OR TURKISH INFLUENCES - and thus be truly independent. He has held fast to trhat ideal, and for his integrity, I have the highest respect for him. I don't share his view, simply because there are too many folk like you who will do everything to eliminate anything non-Greek on the island.

The only threat to Cyprus' independence is Turkey. You constantly go on about Greece, but this is a very outdated argument. All you are doing is trying to deflect attention away from Turkey. Turkey is the only country threatening Cyprus' independence. GR is so thick he can't see that all he is doing is giving the Turks more ammunition to stay here by constantly going on about Greek Nationalists. Yet he refuses to define what one is. I believe in Cyprus' sovereignty, and I define myself as a Greek Cypriot. If I am a nationalist, then so are 90% of Cyprus' people. Consequently, GR simply wants to force people to define themselves in the way he sees fit, by using the "nationalist" label. It's ridiculous. Are all you TCs ready to stop being ethnic Turks, even the settlers? I don't think so. Greece is an important ally to the RoC and no more. So move on to the 21st century please, there is no Junta in Athens, it ended a long time ago. Enosis is dead. You're fighting something that doesn't exist. Stop living in 1974 and get Turkish troops out of Cyprus!

Have you not just proved that you are a traitor by telling him how he should live?

Some good questions...

Postby cymart » Tue Sep 29, 2009 3:55 pm

If a person is born in the USA I would consider them American.I was born in England but my father was born in Poland and my mother in Ireland and they have been living in England since they were very young. So what does that make me?Officially English but I can't say I feel English and I have been away from there for 30 years and also worked and lived in several other countries.
Nationalism and resentment, while understandable in some circumstances-your own being perhaps one example, are also very dangerous emotions which have led to some terrible events in the history of the world,Cyprus being no exception.
Whoever lives in Kyrenia today almost certainly was not responsible for your recent family history, any more than the Turkish guy who owns the restaurant where you live now probably was?
Most of my fathers relatives who stayed in Poland were probably murdered by either the Nazis or the Soviets, yet we do not go around with a grudge against all Germans and Russians and in fact I have visited and lived and worked in both Germany and Russia.Whatever happened,no body can turn back the clock and bring back the people we lost and I believe that the best we can do in their memory is to concentrate our efforts in making sure such things don't happen again, rather than look for revenge against people who themselves are not guilty.
Here in Cyprus a shining example is that of the Journalist Sevgul Uludag and her constant efforts to help the familes of missing persons here from 1963 and onwards on both sides. She has investigated cases personally and then passed them onto the official committee who are working towards finding the fate of all missing persons. She has reconciled both Greek and Turkish Cypriot familes by enabling them to meet and share their grief and also describe instances where people from each community found ways to help each other under very adverse and often dangerous circumstances.
If you wish I can give you her e-mail address and mobile phone number and you can contact her in English to see if she can help you with your own case.

I'm not too hot on religion but agreed with everything you've said mate. Dont' let the forum fanatics intimidate you in any way. This forum belongs to all of us who have a connection with Cyprus, how ever we are connected to it. I envy you that you were born elswhere and are living there and I was born there and live else where. No malice intended and I certainly intend to come back at some stage.
Long live Cyprus and all the Cypriots.

It is very ancient wisdom that inspired what I wrote, written long ago by people who were far greater than a humble guy like me......
Just for the record,I admire many of the things which the ancient Greek philosophers said too and am sorry their country is in such a mess today!

It is so hard to forgive when the person who you want to forgive does not want to own up to anything he has done!! :?
