Erdogan empties Talat

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The only thing we can agree on is that Turks want to steal everything that is Greek. They don't only want all of Cyprus they want the Aegean, Macedonia, Thrace, the Ionian Islands. They want to wipe out all Greeks from the face of the earth. However, we won't let them.

No point at all, in fact Turkey is doing whatever she can to have a dealock the soonest possible and they want that deadlock to happen while Talat is in power because of his good image. They won't allow Eroglu to replace him before an official deadlock...

While waiting for this deadlock Turkey is busy buying out keymen like Verhoigen in the EU (Ok this crook was already bought from the Anan Plan days) the Australian UN representative in Cyprus ( i keep forgetting his name) and many others who we don't know. She will use all these keymen for the next step of trying to get partial recognition. She wants this partial recognition/direct flights/direct trade basically to get off her shoulders as much as possible of the financial load of the occupied.

In the meantime Christofias seems to be sleeping like a baby.

Now whether they will succeed or not remains to be seen. Fact is Turkey does work systematically, they do have plans, and they do try them. This time their plan is very risky though. We will see...

This is clearly the strategy. But it's a pretty confused one. How will this help Turkey get into the EU? If the talks fail then Turkey can kiss the EU goodbye and it loses investments, international prestige, is dragged through international courts and is in permanent conflict with Greece and the ROC.

The only strategy in Turkey's interest is to get out of Cyprus as quick as possible. But Turkey seems incapable of making the right choice. Even for a Turk Erdogan is remarkably stupid and provincial. They do say that every country gets the leader it deserves though...

What is the point of all this BBF talk?

I have to admit that I did not consider that point of view but now that you mention it, I can see that perhaps the Turks ultimate aim may be that. But all they have to do is open their ports to GCs and nothing else so really they can easily release themselves off the hook and continue with their progression towards EU with just a bit of loss of face that’s all. The fact that they have soldiers on the island is not and will never be an impediment. So long as TCs wish them to be there.

But it has its pitfalls; they may turn the TCs (inc Settler TCs) against them. I don’t believe that it is in their interest to do so.

Deniz, this lady needs help. We must encourage her to get some professional help. She has suffered a double whammy first from the Turks and then by the bullshit that the RoC has put in front of her since.

Maximalist positions put forward by one part get the same response from the other. This is inevitable to happen. We want all the settlers to go, all the refugees to return, the Turkish army to leave and no guarantees. What we want is something better than the 1959 Constitution.

May God have pity on our people, as Lenox Boyd said to Makarios in 1956.

If Mr X and Mr T get their act together they may just put everyone in their place. I am hoping that now that they have been given the chance for the first and the last time, they will break away all previous nationalistic shackles and come up with a plan that will please most people so we can move on.

I do appreciate the enormity of the task and I have not lost hope yet.
