I’m only speaking from what I see in and around Paphos, it appears that many Turkish Cypriots are voting with their feet and moving South to the ROC controlled areas. They are taking up residence and reclaiming their land and I know for a fact that one of the biggest landowners in an outlying village close to the airport is a Turkish Cypriot. When I first moved to Cyprus a number of years ago the number of Turkish Cypriots living in Paphos was quite small though over the last few years the TC population has grown to quite a large number. Whether they have moved south because of too many false dawns, too many broken promises or just for better living standards I don’t know but what I do know is that they are moving back here. Paphos is now very cosmopolitan with many different nationalities living here and most locals are too busy trying to earn a living to be concerned what ethnic group a person is from. As I have said in other posts my wife is Turkic; we live in a predominantly GC village overlooking Paphos and we have been made to feel very welcome.
It might open one or two of the TC’s eyes on this forum to visit the South and see for themselves how things really are and not believe everything they read in the newspapers or hear on the TV. Kibrisli Turk has made many valid points in his posts and is correct in stating that the more people mix with each other the quicker the barriers will be broken down.
You cannot punish the majority for the actions of a few and that is what VP supports and these innocent people [both TC’s and GC’s] have been punished for over 35 years. Even if you murder someone you don’t get a 35 year prison sentence.
I expected better from Zan; usually whether you agree with him or not he is quite articulate with his answers though to deny there was no ethnic cleansing when even his footnote states that he was kicked out of Cyprus by the GC’s, is absurd.

It was a tongue in cheek poke at the ethnic cleansing issue in which the TC population and what they have lost for ever seems to be trumped by the GC card that is all.....For me to deny ethnic cleansing would just be stupid....Sorry!!!! All I can say after what has happened in Cyprus is so what.....There is no point in time that we can return to that would make everything right. Eggs were broken and all the kings horses and all the kings men cannot put Humpty together again. We have to move on....Believe me when I say that if that point in time existed, I would be screaming for it now!!!
