Property sales to foreign buyers fall by 74%

Postby Jerry » Fri Sep 25, 2009 5:11 pm

I'm still hoping one day to buy an apartment in Cyprus when prices settle down. One would suspect that a fall in sales volume of 74% would bring prices down significantly. I live in hope!

Sales to foreign buyers have fallen dramatically in 2009. Having grown 32 per cent from 9,633 in 2006 to 12,732 in 2007, they fell 32 per cent to 8,600 last year. If the figures for the first eight months of 2009 were annualised, the 2009 total would be 2,220, representing a 74 per cent fall compared to last year.

Prices won't fall. You may pick up a bargain from an ex pat who has to sell to get back home. I would build, prices have fallen for builders and materials. Alot of builders still looking for work.

Except for building, is there anything else, anything at all, that people can do with land in Cyprus profitably?

Is building the only way to make money out of land?

How about this idea: a hydroponic forage system that yields a ton of animal feed per day? Sounds like a better way to use land and needs a lot less capital. Should be just the right thing for the sun parched summer months.

The sales in 2006 reached such a phenomenal height, it's a wonder there are any more purchases to be made. With such a limited market, the most you will see is some even-ing out from the most ridiculous prices; but the prices don't have to fall, so long as people are willing/able to hang on for another year or so.

Jerry if you want to buy, and you can buy, then that is the right time to buy!

Broperty prices have been falling everywhere including Cyprus, being in denial is like burrying your head in the sand.

The best thing to invest in at the present time is a donkey farm, now that the buble has burst, the money will start to run out and the gas guzzling twin cabs will be clapped out donkeys will be needed to pull them.
