It does not look like the same species to me - and the one in your link is found in the Americas - from southern Canada to Mexico! :?

we have something similar in Zimbabwe :) we call them MUPANI WORMS i don't think this is the official terminology, but more of a local name.

Locals dry them and eat them, or just fry them of grill them on a BBQ (braii), i heard they are really tasty esp. with hot sauce... so here goes the saying 1 man's food is another man's poison :)

It looks like it could be a member of the hawk moth family which are one of the larger of the moths
