R Brits Pro-TC and Pro-Turkey?

Postby insan » Fri Sep 25, 2009 1:25 pm

Most of the ultra nationalist Greeks and GCs claim that Brits have always been pro-TC and pro-Turkey... is it really true or Brits exerted to solve the Cyprus problem in awareness of being in the same alliance, therefore a solution should be satisfactory for all concerned parties in the same alliance; NATO?

I saw the title of this and thought it would be about the people not the Government.

To answer both:

most Brits don't even know where Cyprus is on a map or care about the division - the number of times I have had to give a potted history of the island even to world concious expats - I have over 300 people in my contact book here in Beijing and I doubt any have any knowledge of the Cyp Prob - ok half are Chinese but the rest expats from around the world.

As to the British Government they will do what ever they think is in the national interest, as will most governments, and as Turkey is a NATO member and EU aspirant and the UK has its bases they either don't really care (bar platitudes) or are happy for the division to continue.

Brits will do what ever the Yanks tell them and so will Turkey. Brits (Harold Wilson) wanted to pull out of Cyprus and the Yanks stopped it.

You should have had one more to select and if it had the sentiment above then that would have been correct.

That is my contact book in Beijing. As to the Brits in the North yes they could find it on a map but most in the UK can't.

So British government is not either pro-TC or pro-Turkey... so why do most of the ultra nationalist GCs and Greeks claim that British Government is pro-TC and pro-Turkey... and those ultra-nationalists consider British sources regarding Cyprus problem biased in favour of TCs and Turkey? :?

After Turkey's cowardly displace last week proved that no one respects them. The Bristish government calls them "dick heads"! And, who cares what the British say. They are a weak country that kisses USA's ass.

I think you would be surprised at the number of Brits in the occupied areas that can't find Cyprus on a map. Half the buggers can't even read and write English properly (just look at Cyprus44), so their Geography is probably crap as well. Mind you the Cyprus Dying lot aren't much better!
