YES! As does every other country in the EU. Even Germany receives EU financial support from the EU in the form of subsidies for farmers and industries that merit it.

Once again, the question shows a lack of understanding of what the EU is all about. One way to understrand is to compare to the USA. Does the richest state of the Union, California, receive help from the Federal government? Yes it does in areas where it needs it. No state, no matter how rich, can do it alone in all areas.

No you do not understand the EU or the question...lets try and make it more simple for you..

Is Greece a NET receiver or donator? What ranking do they have?
Is Germany a NET receiver or donator? What ranking do they have?

There is some fiddle going on. That’s not the EU I know. If everybody is a net receiver than who is paying for it? I have not seen the latest figures but UK and Germany tend to be net contributors. The French are drunk and the Italians lazy, and the Spanish always having their siesta. If a country is a net receiver, it is because it is so poor. Poor Cyprus and Greece.

Greece tops the rankings in one of those sections..take your pick on which one...GCs see things as it suits them, they are well known for it.

Greece was a net receiver of some 6.3 Billion Euros, which isn't much considering Greece has a GDP amounting to 343 Billion Euros.

Incidentally, France was a net receiver of some 10 Billion Euros, mainly in the agriculture sector.

I still fail to see what this has to do with the countries vast wealth when compared to Turkey!

Once again VP, let's look at the figures, and hopefully this can sink into your thick head....

Cyprus GDP per capita $32,772.

Greece GDP per capita $32,005.

Turkey GDP per capita $10,472.

http://www.globalpropertyguide.com/Euro ... per-capita

That's right VP, both Greece and Cyprus have a GDP per capita that is over 300% more than Turkey...

How pathetic is that?

Greece is number 1 in the rankings for net blood sucker, without the EU the Greek economy would go bust...now get that into your thick head..Turkey is not in the EU so you cant compare.

No its not VP.

Read it and weep sunshine....

http://www.turkishweekly.net/news/89620 ... eness.html

Its a Turkish source as well.

Greece only received a measly 6.3 Billion Euros and was outstripped by wealthy France....

A 343 Billion Euro economy does not hinge on 6.3 Billion VP.

There was not a huge change in spending related to the major policy
areas, agriculture and cohesion, when the 2008 budget is compared to the 2007 budget. The French are still net receivers from the agriculture support (€10bn) while Greece took the biggest slice from the cohesion funds (€4.7bn) and were also the net receiver of the 2008 EU budget (almost €6.3bn). Germany is the biggest contributor with €8.8 bn.

Its over VP....

Greece tops the EU handouts list as German payments reach new high

Brussels - Greece made more money out of its European Union membership than any other country in 2008 as Germany's payments into the bloc hit historic highs, officials in Brussels announced Tuesday. The news comes as the EU's executive, the European Commission, is drawing up plans to reform the bloc's budget in a move likely to spark explosive debate between those countries which receive most money from the bloc and those who pay the most into it.

Greece received almost 6.3 billion euros (9.25 billion dollars) more from the EU's budget than it paid into it in 2008, according to the commission.

Read and weep, not is all as you wish to make out.

This is what the Turkish Weekly state:

Here is another source:

Its over VP....Greece and Cyprus absolutely shit on Turkey!

Greece only gets very minor support from the EU, and so it should. It is by no means the EU's wealthiest member state, and so the richer countries have a responsibility to Greece, no matter how minor!

And 6.3 Billion is indeed chicken feed. In fact, it makes up less than 2% of Greece's GDP...

Its over man!

How on earth can someone compare Turkey to such economic TITANS as Greece and Cyprus?

The article above speaks for itself, no need for me to add anything else, the biggest blood sucking member state in the EU is Greece.

Did Greece invade any country? No. Did Greece steal anyone's home? No So what is the problem? The EU ordered Turkey to get out of Cyprus. How can an EU member hold another EU member hostage? Again another argument that doesn't make sense.

My husband is a Macedonian. Macedonia was freed in 1913 from Ottoman rule. Macedonians always spoke Greek. Thanks to the allies during WW 1. Macedonia is Greek. Remember Alexander was not a Turk nor was he a Slav. He was Greek who wanted to expose the world to Hellenism. Saints Cosmas and Damian were Greeks from Macedonia. They spread Christianity to the Slavs!
