3 UK soldiers could face war crimes trial

Three British soldiers have been referred to a senior military prosecutor over allegations that they abused Iraqis in the aftermath of the U.S.-led invasion, the Ministry of Defense said Tuesday.

If the allegations are substantiated, the soldiers could eventually be charged with war crimes.

The government says the referral was made last month but refused to give any details about the soldiers, the nature of the alleged abuse, or when or exactly where in Iraq it is alleged to have occurred. The acknowledgment only came after lawyers acting for the Ministry of Defense announced the development to Britain's High Court, where the government is being sued over the alleged abuse.

The vast majority of the Cypriot citizens want the Brits out of Cyprus ASAP.

This is a fact.

- I suspect the vast majority of Cypriots have other things on there minds but show me some valid sources and facts, then maybe, you'll have some credibility

Welcome from me too: it is edgy but fun. I am relatively new here too, and have found there are a few trollish xenophobes, and occassional hit and runs. To be honest it can be hard to answer some of the comments, but that is not because they are valid, but because there is no logic being deployed.

You will see smears and innuendo, seldom backed by evidence, diversionary tactics, and finally abuse. Then you know you are winning.

Some Diaspora/ExPat Cypriots can be the most vocal

That said there are a lot of good posters who one may disagree with on some points, (and agree with on others) but who can thoughtfully present a well reasoned argument, and who do, despite diverging POV, deserve some respect.

IMHO this particular topic was launched as a deliberate diversionary tactic, since it had little to do with Cyprus, but wass designed to be an attack on Britain. The best thing to do with it is not to feed the Troll by rising to the bait,, but question the relevence to Cyprus.

(waits for explosion)

The base issue is of course relevent and I liked the reply.

Otherwise enjoy!! :D

The "Politics and Elections" section is described as...

"Everything related to politics in Cyprus and the rest of the world."

Btw, you should lookup what a “troll” is…
