Every email and website to be stored

Every email, phone call and website visit is to be recorded and stored after the Coalition Government revived controversial Big Brother snooping plans.

It will allow security services and the police to spy on the activities of every Briton who uses a phone or the internet.

Moves to make every communications provider store details for at least a year will be unveiled later this year sparking fresh fears over a return of the surveillance state.

Taliban: 'Britain is our greatest source of funding'

The Taliban has claimed that Britain is its greatest source of revenue and the group is funded by donations in mosques and Muslim community centres around the country.

“We are not like a government, we depend on individuals,” a Taliban commander told Sky News. “We get donations from our Muslim brothers in Britain for jihad and they help us. It is the duty of all Muslims to pay towards fighting a jihad. And this is how we get our money and buy our weapons and carry on fighting.”

The commander added that an attack on Britain and Europe could happen “at any time”.

Leaked Iraq logs ‘will help British prosecutions’

The biggest leak of US military files on the Iraq war will bolster efforts to hold a new inquiry into the British military’s role in the killing and torture of scores of Iraqi detainees and civilians, it was claimed today.

The website Wikileaks released yesterday almost 400,000 documents from the start of 2004 until the end of 2009, which showed that the US-led military was aware the Iraqi police, soldiers and national guards that they were training and equipping were torturing and in some cases beating detainees to death.

The documents also revealed that the civilian death toll from the carnage was at least 15,000 higher than previously thought.

British soldier 'killed Iraqi girl, 8, as she played': Explosive claims as Wikileaks publish US war files

A British rifleman shot dead an eight-year-old Iraqi girl as she played in the streets, it was claimed today.
Soldiers were handing out sweets to children in their bid to win 'hearts and minds' when she was allegedly killed.

Solicitor Phil Shiner said: 'The tank stopped at the end of the street, she's there in her yellow dress, a rifleman pops up and blows her away.'

Mr Shiner, of Public Interest Lawyers, made the claim after 400,000 U.S. military reports were posted on whistleblowing website Wikileaks.

UK blocks move to hit Somali pirates with U.N. sanctions

Britain is blocking a move to place two alleged Somali pirate commanders on a U.N. sanctions list, fearing it could hurt the British shipping industry, officials said on Monday.

Britain has asked for a “technical hold” to be placed on a US proposal to add Abshir Abdillahi and Mohamed Abdi Garaad to the list of people subject to sanctions under U.N. Security Council Resolution 1844, Britain’s Foreign Office said

Tony Blair 'to be called back' to Iraq war inquiry to answer questions about 'gaps' in his evidence

Tony Blair is to be recalled by the Chilcot inquiry into the Iraq War to answer new questions about 'gaps' in the evidence he gave earlier this year.
The former Prime Minister is likely to be asked to clarify the political build-up to the 2003 American-led invasion.
He is also expected to further explain the legality of Britain's participation in the controversial war.
