Postby mike Bitts » Tue Sep 22, 2009 3:11 pm

HI all
I am new here, I own a tour guide company in england and I was thinking of starting one in Cyprus.
I would start the same way, I started the company in england as a sole trader as this is nomaly the cheapest way to start a new business.
what sort of permits would I need to operate in cyprus can any one help.

Very competitive market Mike. Unless you are thinking of offering something different you may find things tough.
What are you thinking of??

I think you will also find that you require certain qualifications to be a tour guide here. Check with the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.

I would imagine that the Cyprus Tourism Organisation would be the body that issues licences in this field.

Mike, there are quiet a few tour guides in Cyprus. Most are linked in with package hoilday industry, Thompson and alike.
I doubt wether it is a viable business venture unless you can offer something very different and tourism improves.
Good luck.

thankyou for your answers the one thing I found was you a choice of a coach trip or being stuffed in a landrover here in england we take out small groups and the driver is your guide, plus the tours are done in such a way as to take you round at your speed and not the companies speed as to make the day a day to remember.
