As it didn't stop them last time, don't you think it’s a waste of time anyway and a good idea if there was no armies in Cyprus at all? Then Turkey would have no excuse to invade and no excuse to keep any soldiers on the island. In fact now that its part of EU who would wish to attack it unless of course it attacks somebody. Are you aware of any plan for a bit Cyprus expansionism?

Before 1974 I would say maybe. But, after 1974 I believe not only should we have an army but the US should have bases in Cyprus to protect us from Turkish invasion. Just like Poland has the US bases to protect them from Russian invasion.

Your problem is than solved my dear. Gecitkale air base is a US airbase. You see we care for you and have set up a US air base just so you do not feel threatened.

Since the Americans are there why doesn't the Turks leave? There is no threat of Greeks slaughtering Turks. Wait, Greeks never slaughtered Turks it is the other way around.
