GREEK LYRICS

Segnoriso apo tin Kopsi tou spathiou tin tromeri;
Segnoriso apo tin opsi pou me via metra tin yi.
Ap ta Kokkala vyalmeni ton ellinon ta iera
Ke san prot' anthriomeni haire o hair'eleftheria.
Ke san prot' anthriomeni haire o hair'eleftheria,
Ke san prot' anthriomeni haire o hair'eleftheria.

GREEK LYRICS (Greek script)

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

I shall always recognise you
By the dreadful sword you hold,
As the earth, with searching vision,
You survey, with spirit bold.
'Twas the Greeks of old whose dying
Brought to birth our spirit free.
Now, with ancient valour rising,
Let us hail you, oh Liberty!

Is it the above you refer to Bafidis?

Dont you think we need a more neutral anthem encompassing ALL.?

Greeks are exactly what 80% of cypriots are.

Greek Cypriots = Ellinon!

If you are a Cypriot, then the current anthem would encompass you no doubt.

No "Omer say hun" ... you are NOT Cypriot ... for you Glory in Turkey's invasions!

Omer say hun wrote:Glory to the Fatherland that knew how to follow,
over the blue of the sea the path of the sun.

The Greek anthem was NEVER part of the RoC constitution! It was just another stupid Greek nationalistic mistake made on or after 63!

Tell it to someone who cares, because it is he only anthem the CNG and President stand attention to...

It is the RoC's anthem, and unless this is changed it deserves our respect otherwise we are just spitting on the RoC...

No, I don't regard it as my anthem. It's treasonous EOKA-B music...

The Cyprus National was written in the 19th century, EOKA B formed in 1971...

Then you spit on your own country and you should be ashamed of yourself...

No you are a Turk ... but CYPRUS is the home of Greeks. So that Anthem is true and if you want to live in Cyprus, you had better accept the fact you are not here to Turkify the island but accept it for its historically and majestically Greek identity.
