Eroglu: Turkish forces are here to stay

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Illegal Bayrak television (20.09.09) broadcast the following:
“Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu has said that Turkey’s presence in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will continue. As long as the embargoes continue against the TRNC, Turkey will never open its ports to Greek Cypriot vessels’, said the Prime Minister.

This statement was made by Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu in response decisions taken by the Greek Cypriot National Council. Noting that the Greek Cypriot National Council had for years been calling on the Turkish Army to leave the island and for Turkish origin nationals to leave the country as well as calling for the removal of the guarantees as it claims there is no need, the Prime Minister said that these are what the Greek Cypriots have been longing for.

Stressing that the Turkish peace forces will never leave the island for the sake of the Greek Cypriots, Mr. Eroglu said: ‘We want the continuation of the existence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Turks of Cyprus under Turkey’s guarantee. What the Greek National Council wants will never happen’.

Reminding that the Greek Cypriot administration had announced that it would prevent Turkey’s EU membership if it does not fulfill its obligations, Mr. Eroglu stressed that Turkey has put forward it own preconditions. ‘As long as the embargoes against the TRNC are not lifted it will not open its ports to Greek Cypriot vessels’, he said.

‘Primarily the European Union should first fulfill the promises it made to the Turkish Cypriots before the 24th of April and then bring this issue to the agenda’, added Eroglu.”

I will agree with Eroglu that Turkish occupation forces have more possibilities to stay in Cyprus than he has.

Is this a declaration for all-out war?

For all our sake, I hope not.

They may do the job full heartedly this time around :?

This may be a shock to you, but should there be any escalation in Cyprus, the "trnc" will be pulverized and you would inevitably lose at least half the lands you stole.... :)

Perhaps for a full 30 seconds

As much as you dream of the day to see TC's get slaughtered again, let's hope that we don't see such a catastrophe unfold for everyones sake :(

On the contrary, it is you that states Turkey did a half hearted job in 74 as they did not take over the whole island.

So let Turkey have a go and let's see how far you will get this time around.

The CNG is armed to its teeth and will give you a major headache next time round.

If GCs felt they had such military weight against one of the largest fighting machines in the world they would have done it many time over by now but they got their arses whipped last time and it would mean losing the whole island do you think GCs are that stupid, they would never risk that.

Just remember that one day, the politicians will stop talking, and under the right political shifts, it will be these that you will be negotiating....

And rest assured, your Turkish Army and occupation will be decimated into a tiny enclave....

Wooooww! The Greek hero Pafidi speakin so sure... U really scared us re Bafidi but be sure GR is not in one of them giant helis bcz u know he would bomb the Greek targets.

Don't be so sure of that....

GR! and I will be the first at the front line fighting shoulder to shoulder like Cypriot brothers....

We are just messing with your mind...good cop bad cop type of thing... 8)

Reh Wallace

Time and time again, perhaps dozens and dozens of times on this Forum, like you have done, many others have asked for detals of these "promises" ... What were they? Who made them? etc etc

When pinned down in this way, no one has an answer, so we must come to the only conclusion possible.

You see reh Bill. I think we've been waiting long enough now for a written document from the EU council were it states all these so called promises made. So here we go......NO PROMISES WERE MADE!

3. It pays tribute to the Turkish Cypriots, who supported the Annan Plan by an overwhelming majority, thus opting for a future in Europe. The international community, and in particular the Council of Europe and the European Union, cannot ignore or betray the expressed desire of a majority of Turkish Cypriots for greater openness and should take rapid and appropriate steps to encourage it. The Turkish Cypriots’ international isolation must cease.

Who will you blame when 50.000 GCs are killed Nicosia Larnaca and Ayia Napa in ruins, with control of the whole island in the hands of Turkey?
