Russia’s position on Cyprus issue remains unchanged, says Russian MFA spokesman

The Spokesman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrei Nesterenko, responding last week to a journalist’s comment that the impression had been created that Russia recognised or could recognize the occupied area of Cyprus as a state entity in Cyprus other than the internationally recognized Republic of Cyprus, stated:

And it is of course imperative that there has never been an issue, on behalf of Russia, of recognising the so-called ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’.
