Cyprus Hardliner's Clash!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Cyprus Hardliner's Clash!

Postby Kibrisli Turk » Sun Sep 20, 2009 9:32 am

Turkish Cypriot hardiners believe that any Annan Style Fed plan, of any sort containing
Whatever guarantees from Turkey or any amount of Turkish Soldiers left on the island
Will ultimately NOT stop the island from completely unifying and eventually watering
Down any significance of a federated or compenent state or area of a new United Republic
Of Cyprus. While the Greek Cypriot hardliners believe that an Annan Style plan would
be the first page of legally dividing Cyprus as similar to how former Yugoslavia fell.

The Truth: At first glance one might think so, but perhaps we should see things through
The eyes as an EU member and how President Christofias see it as well. What if an Annan
Style plan was signed or agreed by both communities, would that have empowered this
Legal split/bending towards Turkey"s position?

I THINK NOT
Here is why. A United Cyprus even as similar just for argument's sake as the Annan Plan
Would first and foremost dissolve the puppet state of the "TRNC", and reduce Turkish
Soldiers to a minimum on the island. EU effective CONTROL would stretch across the
Entire island, so will its democracy and its laws. Let's not forget that. The Turkish Canton
Will, under the new constitution, may have certain primary pushed laws and derogation,
But under EU law these will be proven to be unsustainable or workable. Turkish soldiers
Will evebtually be forced to leave as not Turkish Cypriot will either need their
Presence under this Modern EU era or will have to do any type of Turkish military
Service. Over time, Cyprus as an EU member state will be able to legally side line a few of
Its own constitutional elements and take any of its non-workable, non-democratic even
Laws or practises to our now upper community: the EU and ECHR as we have
Successfully seen with the Orams property case, to a certain degree. Also, let's not forget
The former Yurgoslavia was not an EU member state, and let's not forget that Turkey,
Of today with all of its so called guarantee threats in a new Cyprus constitution will
Effectively hold no meaning what so ever. Turkey would not or could not land one
Soldier to the effect of partitioning the island under this modern EU, making the issue
Of guarantee meaningless for them. Let's also remember that Greece, britain and the
EU, yes now the EU as well as Greece and Britain and Cyprus are all part of it, would
Confront Turkey if they ever tried to exercise any such stupidity.

Perhaps then we should back President Christofias and call Turkey's so called lighter
Stance where we know Turkey really doesn't want to sign such a deal.

It all depends on whether Cypriots will act as Cypriots.

Let me put a hypothetical question here- if the Chinese want a shipping container port in the eastern Mediterranean and the ports vying for the business are Limsassol and Iskenderun, which would the TCs support?

Here you have a non military, so called "peaceful" competition between supposedly friendly neighboring states. A similar situation occurred two years ago between Greece and Italy for the same business- Chinese container traffic. In the end Greece got the contract.

Could a similar situation be resolved openly, with no attempts to undermine the Cypriot bid through local "patriots" who will subvert the process?

This is no academic question. After a settlement there will be many instances when the intersts of Cyprus as a whole will be pitted against those of Greece and Turkey both within and outside the EU. Will Cypriots ever feel that their loyalties are first to Cyprus and then to their ethnic motherlands when it comes to these peaceful competitive situations?

That is a very bad and highly unlikely example if I may say so. Given the population sizes and countries each port serve, The Chinese will need no help in selecting Iskenderun for more profit.

But I take your point regarding the choice of TCs when the choice is between Turkey and GCs. The only question is which one would benefit the TCs most, whichever one does would be the TCs choice. You will find same selfishness in TCs as much as anywhere else inc GCs. It will have nothing to do with race.

However having said that, if there should be a democratically elected right wing anti-unification party in power in the north, no doubt they would behave just as you predicted, and so would GCs in the same situation.

Fred:

Are you a Turk or a Cypriot? If you are a Turk than you want the Cyprus situation to stay as it is. TCs are afraid to speak up. They receive inferior education from the rest of the world. Their economy is bad. They have no future.

If you are a Cypriot you know the only right solution is for the Turkish army and settlers to leave the Greek island of Cyprus and never to return. All the rightful owners to return to their lands and homes. It doesn't matter how the Turks f**k our homes we will repair them!

As my cousin's son said: If I buy a female English bulldog in England. Her puppies are born on Cyprus will they be Cypriot bulldogs? What is your answer Freddie boy?

Chrissy Wissy Baby, I am a TC through and through, I am and have always been a Lurucadi Bulldog all my life no matter where I live.
Now, when it comes to a solution, everybody accepts that everyone back to their homes will not happen. When I say everybody, I include the UN and Greece in that. It’s the cowardice of your politicians to prepare the GC community for a solution that has got us into this situation we are in today. Unless they change and begin the process, we will miss the final chance for unification and there will not be another after this.
TRNC will not be in isolation forever. After this it will change. The international community has had enough of the GC intransigence over the Cyprus Problem.

GC intransigence= right to people's property, right to live and work where they wish in their country. no foreign troops on their country's soil.

HANG THESE NAZI'S WHO ASK FOR ALL THIS!

"TRNC will not be in isolation forever"

Which means what? That it will join the civilised world and become a member of the Council of Europe and signatory to the European Convention of Human Rights? Recognising that the right to property is a universal human right?

Or will it try to reconcile plunder and forced expropriation with all these obligations?

Let's hope this is true. I am proud that the EU did the right thing. They agree the Turks must leave and allow the Greeks to return to their lands.
