This statement clearly demonstrates that you are clueless on God’s word.

On the contrary.

Some Christian Fundamentalists believe in the literall meaning of the Bible, in order to justify their actions.

What I find strange is that most people don’t even know the basic message of God (obviously because they’ve never bothered to study it), yet feel compelled to discuss and question things!

Just stick to your superficial surface-scraping Paphitis…

God's message is there for all to see in the Old Testament and in the Bible.

Sodom demanded from Lot, "bring them (Angels) out so we may know them". (Genesis 19:5)

Needless to say, Lot declined.

But then Lot states "Behold, I have 2 daughters which have not known man;let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes...(Genesis 19: 7-8)

Sounds awfully close to rape....

How about a father impregnating his 2 daughters....(Genesis 19: 31-6).

GR!, your self righteous approach is most baffling, and intolerant to other belief structures making you a potential crusader in God's name, so in actual fact you are just as bad as any fundamentalist...

One of the many bits I liked about "The God Delusion" is when he talks about belief as a evolutionary trait and how this has been exploited by the priest kings of early civilizations through to religions of today.

So you know that God does not exist.

How can you be so certain?

@ ADMIN - I posted this in Cyprus Problem by accident. Can you please move the topic to the General Section?

Cannot be certain, but I have not be presented with any proof that would make me believe - it does not mean that I feel others should not believe if they are given a free choice and allowed to weigh the arguments for and against.

Then you should have voted for de facto atheist.....

Your right but I feel it is somewhere between the 2, I do not feel that God is improbable as mentioned in de facto atheist so had to go with my gut instinct as such.

I voted for the above, although I would personally call that "agnostic".

I disagree that the definition of agnostic should be "exactly 50% - 'God's existence and non-existence are exactly equiprobable'."

Agnostic is word with Greek root and it basically means "Without knowledge" (it doesn't mean "undecided"). This means that the probably that a "God" exists is just as high as the probability that anything we can imagine (and anything we can't imagine) and we can't prove exists.

E.g. if I claim that in a specific galaxy 5 billion light years from earth there is a planet that is inhabited by little green people who speak French, the possibility of that being true is equal with the possibility that "God" is something true. That possibility is just slightly above Zero, not 50%.

I could be called Atheist, but I prefer to be agnostic since Atheists make a very specific claim which they can not prove.

Being agnostic is simply admitting the truth: That you don't know what is not possible to know.

Had the topic of your thread been “Christian Fundamentalism” then you’d be justified in driveling on about it… without me as I haven’t the slightest interest in them, but it’s not!

Your assumed “message of God” is laughable, and you are clearly not in a position to discuss Christianity or God… not even with primary school children.

There are many different reasons for why someone would call themselves atheist, agnostic, etc. There are broadly two kinds of atheists : First there are those who who have arrived at their conclusion mainly because of philosophical, including scientific, reasoning. Then there's a second group of atheists those for whom belief in a god, fideism, is simply unimportant to them. It just doesn't have any purchase on their thinking and actions and for these kinds of reasons they declare their atheism.

It seems to me that the last category in the poll are principally of the second kind. But no serious scientist would likely be of that group but of the penultimate group because of the problem of falsification. Modern science, it is claimed, proceeds through falsification (not positive proving). Thus the fideists triumphant "but you can't prove that god doesn't exist therefore he must exist" is just downright silly.

The basic problem is that the claim that "god exists" is inherently non-falsifiable. The mark of science, as against faith, is scepticism.

But this thread is not about Christianity at all.

It is about Monotheism, and that means it includes all Monotheist religions such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.

Read the thread again GR!, and stop making assumptions, because you're way out of your league.

God's message is there for all to see in the Old Testament and in the Bible.

Man has written about God's supposed message in the Old Testament, The Bible, the Quran, and the Tanakh.

And the problem with humans is that they take everything within, by its literal meaning, and that is why we have Jihad today, and have had crusades in the past. Those that believe in Creationism and believe in the literall meaning of ANY holy book, are Fundamentalists. There are Christian fundamentalists, Islamic fundamentalists and Jewish Fundamentalists.
