The Republican Turkish Party-United Forces (CTP-BG) has continued its meetings with Greek Cypriot political parties with a visit to the United Democrats Party (EDI).
During yesterday’s meeting, the two parties exchanged views on the Cyprus issue and agreed to organize joint activities with the aim of raising public consciousness towards a settlement and reunification, on both sides of the island.
Speaking to reporters at the end of the meeting, CTP-BG Leader Ferdi Sabit Soyer expressed the hope that a solution can be found to the Cyprus problem by the end of this year.
Underlining the need for all to help the two leaders in their efforts for a settlement, he said both sides will come out as winners in case of a solution.
Soyer noted that the solution of the Cyprus problem is an important matter to Turkey-Greece relations, the Eastern Mediterranean region and the whole world.
CTP-BG Leader, who has held meetings with DISI, AKEL and EDI so far, said his party wants to hold further contacts with EDEK and DIKO as well.
EDI Leader Praksula Antoniadu Kiryaku later said the two parties exchanged views on reunification of Cyprus.
She explained that, at a time when an important period opens for Turkey’s EU membership, political parties should avoid any punishment and pressure, and contribute to peace instead.
