Youth demanding ‘freedom for Cyprus’ was punished in the Cyprus Armed Froces.
A member of EFEN (ΕΦΕΝ), the patriotic student youth movement, who just joined the army for his obligatory service, was reported on Sunday 30th August by one of his superiors (who belongs to the communist youth party EDON (ΕΔΟΝ) for wearing an EFEN t-shirt. The EDON member told the young recruit that wearing such t-shirts, which demand ‘freedom for Cyprus’ were not allowed in the army.
This follows many incidents where the Christofias government intimidates young students who belong to anti-bi-zonal bi-communal federation groups. Recently the slogan ‘Hellas Hellas do not forget Cyprus’ was banned and the officers who chanted it were severely punished. This government does not want to hear the word ‘Greece’, ‘Greeks’, ‘Hellenism’.
It is apparent that they want to destroy the only line of military defense Cyprus has by demoralizing troops, not ordering ammunition for weapon and decreasing troop levels and a period where the Turkish armed forces are doing exactly the opposite.
Things are getting even worse by the day.
