FANOULLA ARYGROU HONORS 91st PONTIAN GENOCIDE COMMEMORATIONS

Postby yialousa1971 » Wed May 26, 2010 8:44 pm

FANOULLA ARYGROU HONORS 91st PONTIAN GENOCIDE COMMEMORATIONS
For Immediate Release: May 22, 2010
Contact: Nikolaos Taneris, New York, Tel. (917) 699-9935

NEW YORK—Distinguished author and researcher Mrs. Fanoulla Argyrou presented her scholarly findings based on her groundbreaking research in the British Foreign Office to a broad range of youth organizations, community meetings, media outlets and public events in the Greater New York area to commemorate the 91st Anniversary of May 19th the International Remembrance Day for the Pontian Greek Genocide, at the invitation of the Pan Pontian Federation of USA and CANADA

Mrs. F. Argyrou is specialised in the study of the British official released Foreign Office documents on Cyprus with an experience of well over 20 years on the matter. Argyrou has written 8 books (of the 8 books that Argyrou wrote, one covers the Pontian Genocide) , numerous studies, speeches in conferences, hundreds of articles in the Greek Cypriot press in Cyprus and is an associate writer with London based newspapers “Ta Nea”, “Eleftheria” and “Simerini” in Cyprus as well as others and Radio Proto in Cyprus. Her first hand research has had strong affects on the political climate in Cyprus, and her findings have raised serious questions about the official handling of the Cyprus question, and the dangers involved with the Turkish-inspired bizonal bicommunal federation plans. Arygrou’s research, political analysis and methodology in communicating the truth about Turkish Crimes has inspired entire generations of activists. It was with deep respect that she was received by patriots in the Greek-American community.
Argyrou’s speeches and presentations focused on the British archival record which is her specialty. However, also covered were timely revelations of fact, including details on the war crimes background to Mehmet Ali Talat, and long term efforts to Turkify the entire Greek Island of Cyprus, by means of the bizonal bicommunal so-called “solutions” Also discussed was the importance of the book “The Bloody Truth” (available for download on the CANA website and in hard copy ,free of charge from CANA) In the book are details on the gory massacres and cover-ups by the Turkish terrorist organizations Volgan and TMT, as well as research that includes Turkish documents on Turkish Crimes in Cyprus. This book presents irrefutable evidence against Turkey for its unpunished crimes in Cyprus.

The overall success of Fanoulla Argyrou’s visit to New York was in hammering home the truth, with irrefutable evidence, on the cycle of Genocide that Turkey is responsible for from Asia Minor to Cyprus. And the fact that Turkey remains and remained an aggressor because Turkey continues to escape punishment for its crimes. Notable attendees and messages of support for the events came in from Ted G. Spyropoulos, USA Coordinator, World Council of Hellenes Abroad and Dr. Olga Sarantopoulos, Secretary of World Council of Hellenes Abroad who flew into New York from Vienna. The events were also followed by a “who’s who” of Greek and Greek-Cypriot journalists and academics, who like it or not, couldn’t stay away from hearing the truth—almost the entire journalistic staff of The National Herald TNH, Demetrios Rhombotis of AKTINA FM and staff from NEO magazine, Alex Stephanopoulos and Despina Syriopoulou of Greek American News Agency, Apostolos Zoupaniotis correspondent for RIK and CNA Cyprus News Agency, and even Dr. Christos P. Ioannides the Director of the Center for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at Queens College, City University of New York, to name just a few.

Contact us for your copy of “The Bloody Truth” for your family and friends, print out and sign our petition calling for the arrest of the Turkish murderer of our Greek-Cypriot brother Solomos Solomou. And join us again this July 20th for our annual protest directly in front of the criminal Turkish Embassy in Washington DC. The Cyprus Action Network of America (CANA) is pleased that the fervor for justice is growing stronger with each passing year, as much as the bizonal bicommunal clique with their political ineptitude and personal agendas would like to bury this issue of memorialising 20th of July with muddled messages and talks (to the tune of bouzoukia and baglamades) on so-called "solutions" that involve so-called "federations" with the very criminals who perpetrated a HOLOCAUST on Greek-Cypriots, we say NEVER AGAIN. We will not be silent, and we are not going away.

Washington Times Carries Cyprus Action Network of America’s Call to Oppose Bryza nomination
For Immediate Release: September 17, 2010
Contact: Nikolaos Taneris, Tel. (917) 699-9935

WASHINGTON, DC—James Morrison, columnist, Washington Times, made the Cyprus Action Network of America’s recent call to oppose the nomination of Matt Bryza to the post of American ambassador to Azerbaijan the lead of his prominent “Embassy Row” column in the Thursday. September . 16 edition of the Washington Times.

Morrison wrote in his lead paragraphs:

“In the hottest diplomatic dispute facing Congress as it convenes next week, Armenian-Americans are stepping up their campaign to prevent Matthew J. Bryzafrom serving as U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is scheduled to consider his nomination on Tuesday. They have picked up support from Cypriot-Americans, who complain that Mr. Bryza, whose wife was born in Turkey, is biased toward Turkish positions on Cyprus.” Morrison also added “The Cyprus Action Network of America on Monday registered its opposition to Mr. Bryza.” And then Morrison quoted extensively from the Cyprus Action Network of America’s statement "Matt Bryza's troubling diplomatic record and his conflict of interest issues in regard to his bias toward Turkey's cycle of impunity and denial of Turkey's crime of genocide and Turkey's illegal invasion and occupation of Cyprus makes him an unsuitable representative in any post," it said in a statement.”

The Washington Times columnist also noted that Mr. Bryza a career US foreign service worker has been criticized for refusing to condemn the Turkish troops illegally occupying Cyprus , and the columnist went on to quote Senator Menendez who, in his written questions, asked Mr. Bryza to "explain why you believe that a U.S. [congressional] resolution recognizing the genocide in Armenia would harm our relationship with Turkey."

Morrison’s “Embassy Row” column is found at:

Ex Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus G. Lillikas, is
calling upon President Christofias to issue an immediate apology to Greece and
the Greek nation who are our best supporters in our struggle against the Turkish
ongoing invasion and occupation. “Turkey and her allies could not have asked for
a more constructive de-criminalisation of Turkey’s crimes”, states Mr. G.
Lillikas.
Whereas high respected retired educationalist Mr. E. Billis remarked that Mr.
Lillikas ought to have gone even further and demanded Mr.Christofias resignation
from his post. “The sooner he realises that for Cyprus’s liberation sake he must
vacate his post the sooner he will do service to the Hellenism of Cyprus and
worldwide”, Mr. Billis remarks in a despatch dated 30 September, 2010
circulating Mr. Lillikas’ statement.

I have very close personal connection with Yialousa from my father-in-law and go over there whenever I can.The T.C's who live there are very friendly, speak Greek and mostly come from Tyllyria area. They would be quite happy for us to return and to go back to Kokkina etc. themselves.
Try talking to Erdogan Ozabackli at the Theresa hotel and fish taverna in Ayios Therissos, who has many G.C. friends, some of whom are high-up in the present government and whose wife is a doctor who has always tried to help the elderly G.C's still living there.

We accept your position re Nationalism but stop mixing up of been Nationalist and if you are not ,to be stupid, like some Neo Cypriots trying to tell us the recent years.

Is a different thing to be Nationalist and different think to not accept the invader as your brother, recognizing to him the authority to share your country with you.

Cyprus Action Network of America (CANA)

British Prime Minister Tony Blair and European Commissioner Gunter
Verheugen had promised the Turks direct trade for the occupied areas

Now they admit their demand is for RECOGNITION!

Their latest audacity: They demand we stop calling the Turkish occupied areas… “occupied” but a “state”!

Image

On the 50th anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus , the Turkish Cypriots have intensified their activities in promoting their demand for recognition. They now also demand that the international community stops calling the Turkish occupied part of the Republic of Cyprus “occupied”! , but a “state”!

On Sunday the 3rd October 2010, they organised a gathering in Trafalgar Square in London , which was rather a failure, but which served in them dropping the masks and the myth of the so called isolation by admitting publicly that what they really demand through this, is political recognition of the occupation regime. The gathering was organised through facebook from the occupied areas (with the support of “Embargoed!” a political association in London that came into being following the referendum in Cyprus rejecting the Annan Plan, in order to promote direct flights and direct trade to the occupation regime with British backing. It was “Embargoed!” that called upon us to withdraw our bloody map (above) with the logo I DO NOT FORGET, claiming that it is …”racist”!). They delivered a petition at the Prime Minister’s residence at 10 Downing Street demanding political recognition of the occupation regime and to “stop calling them “occupied”!

A few days ago however, they addressed letters to the European Union. The content of those letters confirmed what we knew all along: That the then British Government of Tony Blair following the rejection of the Annan Plan PROMISED THEM DIRECT TRADE. The Association of Turkish Cypriots Abroad sent two letters, one to the president of the European Commission and another to the president of the European Parliament expressing, according to Turkish Londra Gazete newspaper, their disappointment, for not allowing as yet direct trade with the occupation regime. The letter sent by Cetin Ramadan , England Representative of Turks abroad read: “…

“We are uncertain about direct business to TRNC, and the decision of postponing direct business is a violation of Turkish Cypriot Rights.

Following the Annan plan in 2004, Gunter Verheugen and Tony Blair had promised an unconditional direct business. This has still not been put in place, the EU is still under pressure from the Greek Cypriots and still the people of TRNC are being treated with injustice...”.

Note 1): During the referendum in 2004 Gunter Verheugen was the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and he was furious with the Greek Cypriots for rejecting the Annan Plan. Today Verheugen is employed by the Turks as an Adviser!. (Simerini 13.7.2010).

Note 2): The Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary Jack Straw (Tony Blair’s Government) the day after the referendum in Cyprus decided on governmental level to promote direct trade to the occupied regime through the EU. (When Jack Straw visited Cyprus during late T. Papadopoulos’ presidency and insisted on going to the occupied areas as well, the latter refused to see him).

Note 3): In1987 a Joint Parliamentary Committee in the House of Commons which studied the Cyprus issue decided and suggested to the British Government to promote a confederal solution for the Cyprus problem and direct trade.

Cyprus is''a piece of us"

Cyprus is''a piece of us,''said currently the Vice President of the Turkish government Bulent Arints and wondered "why the replacement of an ambassador is reason to accuse the Turkish government."

Speaking on Turkish television channel CNN Turk, Mr. Arints referred to the tension between Ankara and the Turkish "Cyprus" leadership.

Referring to aktse Khalil Ibrahim, designated new "ambassador", said "Cyprus is well aware."

"A small group appealed to Turkey, the government and armed forces, but the government there did whatever criticism on this," said Arints and argued that the "constitution" of the occupied territories "was written by Mr. Mumtaz Soisal, director of Rauf Denktash, who added to the constitution freedom for trade unions to a degree not found in any part of the world. " , The unions are "opposing views in Turkey," he said.
