I wonder if any of the Turks can tell us what the region in blue outlined on the south-westerly coast of Turkey, used to be?

Hmmm... let me take a closer look into this map... U banaiyamu what r those pink lines underneath of Greek and Cyprus territories?

They say 20 and 30 degrees longitude ... not that co-ordinates mean much to Turks!

Now, do you have any idea what the outlined region in Southern Turkey used to be?

It should be İzmir(Smyrna), the city overwhelmingly inhabitted by Greeks until 1923 but the colour there indicates a caucasian population was there. :?

The blue probably represent the Circassians http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circassians

Large numbers of them settled in and around Antalya after they left the Caucasus, although the map gives the impression that they were the majority there when they werent and never have been.

Can someone explain what happened in 1960 and Cyprus was not allowed to unite with Greece?

For the accuracy of the map, look where it says Turkey and where is says Osmanli. A bit bizarre, wouldnt you say?

Hey, yialousa! Before you can join Greece, you have to join the human race first. But when you do, you won't want to join Greece anymore.
