Visiting Cyprus 1962/63 I think.

We were playing the Stars and Spangles (some American anthem) Never heard till that very morning.
At the Ledra Palace.
Embarassing it was when he asked how long had we been playing that tune. I said four hours. He shook my hand and smiled. Walked away bemused.
I cant even remember the tune now.
There was a photo in the press but I lost mine in December 1963.
I was surprised at how good his bodyguards spoke Turkish.

in cyprus you see famous peole and it nothing but countries like america you have the press following them allover the place... ive seen a few of the actors from bourate gitoni the old series and also the lemeshiani girl from the show ermm i forget what its called but she was at the air port.. artemakis from vourate.. was in the cyprus mall in latsia and the other guy was in ledras.. but no one says anything to them..

to artemakis i said to him nampo re artemaki... the esculators whatever they are called where broken and everyone had to use the lifts..

oh and the old man from oi takkoi he went on a cruise to libanon with what looked like his grand daughter or some young girl

Amongst many, the most famous worth mentioning are Whitney Houston (I sold her an opal ring). George Benson (had a drink with him at the bar). Rod Stewart, Charles Aznavour, Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe and a lot of sporting personalities.

I saw Paul McCartney in the early 80s in Lewisham. He pulled up in a green Rolls and came out signing autographs, but I decided if he wanted my autograph all he had to do was ask.

I see Omid Djalili and Trevor Macdonald regulalry in waitrose. Nicloa Padget also lives in the vicinity. Tracy Emin came to my wedding before she was famous. I've also met Ozker Ozgur.
I also saw Warren Beatty and Jack Nicholson in London early eighties when they were making Reds. Scizzo Nico waved at my girlfriend.

All of the Beatles (apart from Paul), random politicians and Ministers (hence my total cynism of them all), have a photo, somewhere, of me talking with a British Prince, Princess Di (who died on my birthday!!!!), the Commander of the UAE armed forces (in a lead lined underground bunker!), various other senior military people - and ME!
