To begin with, I love the Tulip. Oracle , you can start on that one. Tulip derived from Tulbend, the traditional head dress of the Ottomans. We also know where tulips spread to Europe from. Now be happy and do your worse.

For its scent, nothing beats honeysuckle. :wink:

I grew some prize Black Tulips once (well, 3 years running) which were much sought after by neighbours ... 8) But, not Ottoman in origin, but a symbol of another theft by them of the native elements of Asia Minor.

Still, Honeysuckle in June ... can't beat it! ... Except maybe, Jasmine ....

I also grew 'Black' tulips for three years running. I was disappointed that they were not truly black, but very deep purple. Still lovely they were.
