How much is that doggy in the window

A report in todays Cyprus Mail says that two Pointers have been stolen from near Paphos. The value is put at €15k! Surely a misprint??

15k seems steep. I know a guy in Dhoros who paid 5k for a hunting dog.

And the Brits complain that we don't care about animals in Cyprus?

Many of those expensive dog though may not return home after the first day of the hunting period if their hunting performance dont satisfy their owner :))

They have to be good to seek out the migrating swallows that have been shot as well as the finches, starlings and sparrows.

Dig, dig. You need to brush up on your birdlife my friend. The majority of hunting dogs in Cyprus flush ground game/birds or retrieve fallen birds.
I have yet to see a dog trained to fly and flush swallows !

Dogs are not used for the hunt of the birds you mentioned, not even for partridge hunt..the expensive dogs are mostly used for the hare hunting..
