Yiannis
Although appreciative of your comments I can never claim to be wise. That must be reserved for other far more deserving individuals. Respect is due to you Yiannis and all others like you who in their own way wish to see an end to the hostility that keeps this beautiful Country divided, bitter and never certain. Let us hope that we will one day see the true face of humanity smile once again on this Island.
Many years ago I had need to cross a line of "peace protestors" who had linked arms around the perimeter of RAF Greenham Common in England where the US Air Force held a stock of Tomahawk Cruise Missiles. My neighbour at the time was a Lt Colonel USAF from Austin Texas & I pointed out to him that this action alone will, in time, have repercussions that will ripple through NATO corridors. I have often since wondered if a newsworthy show of unity by the TC & GC peoples who want peace would ever work in Cyprus. I fear however that too many extremists or beneficiaries of the division would disrupt to distraction such a show of solidarity.
Thank you for your kind words, sincere best wishes to you.

I've often wondered the same thing Michael. I don't know if any of the bicommunal peace groups have ever agitated for a bicommunal 'Hands across the Line' event... encouraging GC and TC citizens together to march for unity, linking arms in a human chain to walk through the Green Line (at Ledra Palace) and marching between two large pop concerts on either side with both GC, Greek, TC and Turkish artists performing - in the north during the late afternoon and in the south in the evening. It may be costly to stage, but I think as a symbol of unity nothing would beat it...
