WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT IN LIFE? WHAT REALLY DRIVES YOU???

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

The title of this thread could be seen as something of an 'Oxymoron' since, in my own opinion, having seen so much pain and suffering in the time I have lived, I really desire (want) peace and contentment.

How does one become 'Driven' to attain such an ambitious (if one could describe such as thus) goal :?:

What also drives me is the need to succeed and this has been in my blood from a young age.
But the most important thing of all are my beautiful babies and hubby, without them I wouldnt be driven to do a thing.
:)

so what you saying that the love you feel to your family hubby-babies, is your drive ! good one love is a strong motive..

about workin hard to retire when you 40 .. baby WORK SMART DONT WORK HARD

Bluelagoon,

What I am saying is that your best laid plans also need a dose of luck to come out as you plan.

I am not complaining. Where did you see that in my post? I am at the top of my new profession, but I did not plan to be in this profession. Funny thing is that an Indian palm reader on a boat trip from Egypt to Cyprus, when I was 9 years old, foresaw that I would be in this job. But I started out to be a lawyer.

So instead of being rigid and totally goal oriented I am saying be a little flexible, because shit happens. Expect the unexpected. Try to be a good captain.

What would you all advise a young man who studies hard, keeps fit, passes his pilots exams with flying colors and two days before he is set to start his new job flying planes, suffers a detached retina?

thats awful. but life is not fair and we all admit it or not make plans for life and when one doesnt work for what ever reason we adapt, we take our time and move on making new plans! yes we should be flexible,,

NIKITAS my friend...

Did you know the story of a poor wise man who made a living taking care of sheep...he had an only son and lived in a remote small village...one day his son had a bad accident , he fell of his horse and broke his leg...all the villages came to his house to see the unlucky boy and gave them support say how unlucky he is.

the wise man turned around and said just the word MAYBE.

The next day a war broke out....all the first born males had to leave there homes and go to war but the boy was told he could stay at home as his leg was broken....most of the kids didnt return home after the war ended.
Moral of the story.....you figure it out.

All I wish for is to be happy... to be around those I care about and to enjoy a good quality of life, being able to pick fresh fruit from a tree, have a bbq with nice weather, share a bottle or 2 of wine, relax and play the guitar on the beach, watch children and parents play in the sea. I do believe that we only get out of life what we put in, and to work to the best of our ability in order to maintain self pride which we can show in the form of smile. I mean the material things in life are nice to have but not priority or the key to success... Status is vanity and happiness is sanity!!
