Biggest mass grave of GCs in Lapithos

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Precisely, and it was easy to check on this fact before posting about bones etc, so let us all cut the nonsense and the posting of idiotic hearsay about the missing. Cyprus is very small, it is more than probable that we have some family ties to some of the dead.

If there is no serious information to post it is better to post nothing.

Nikitas, can you give an idea from the conversations with your father how many Gcs were killed by the coupists?

I can only think of one "good" reason to remove remains and that's to hide evidence of who the victims are and the circumstances of their dying.

If there are any remains in this graves, they should be returned to the relatives now for decent burial.

Is it beyond your imagination to see that a Turkish Cypriot studying abroad could acquire these remains on visits home. Just because you don't agree with something there is no need to be offensive and dismiss it as idiotic hearsay. This is an open forum and, within the rules, we are free to add to the debate as we please.

I am puzzled by the almost manic drive to justify the actions of the Turkish army and the TMT irregulars who were given a free hand by the same army.

The allegation that bodies of GCs were driven all the way from the south coast to the north, to bury in Lapithos days before the invasion is really monstrous. Just think, it means that the coupists knew DAYS IN ADVANCE of the invasion point and had it all planned to blame the invading army for their alleged killings.

I hope you are not accusing me of justifying these actions. I wholeheartedly condemn them. I only relate this as I read it last week and it touched on the charges mentioned above.

Dont shoot the messenger, boy.

Deniz, there is a documentary with a GC captain talking about going around and killing communists in Girne. That GCs killed people and buried them in Girne is beyond doubt, the question is how many?
and where?

Perhaps that was what RRD was referring to.

I can't think of anything more ridiculous than any self-respecting "medical student" nonchalantly picking up skulls from the ground to examine for his "homework" ...

Is unfortunately true and applies to certain people on both sides, but I am not at all happy about having to agree with him on this point...

There are some indescrpencies when reading the dead among the Turkish troops, Im getting some info on what type of battles were fought in that area in 74, my hunch is that among the dead buried there in Lampousa there are a number of Turkish soldiers among the Greek Cyps...Karavas and Lapithos were not captured until the 9 or 10th of August....Although there are reports that the Turks were landing troops at the small port in Lampousa after the first week and marching them towards Kyrenia....
