Thanks....Christofias said this on August 25, 2009:

http://www.financialmirror.com/News/Cyp ... News/16999

Christofias stressed that “each Cypriot, Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot, should bear responsibility for the election of the President and the Vice President on a common ballot. In that sense and under this condition, we have accepted the rotating presidency, in the context of the current negotiations” for a political settlement, he said.

He explained that in a six year presidency term, the President during the first four years will be a Greek Cypriot and the Vice President a Turkish Cypriot, and during the last two years they will change offices.

“This safeguards the unity of the people, the unity of the social classes and not the unity of the one or the other community”, he stressed.

So what do you call a rotating presidency?

Neither Christofias, nor me or most of the others consider RP as a concessin from GC side. Only a reatrd like u consider it as concession made by GC side. Got it?

Whoever doesn't consider the rotating Presidency as a mammoth concession (of which the GC electorate will turn down) must be insane.

18% of the population by divine right  shall be given the power to elect a head of state regardless of whether 82% of the population want him or not.

That's apartheid democracy.

Isn't the rotating presidency deal tied in with joint ticket candidates? In that case everyone votes for the duo- president and vice president.

So what does that make the Cyprus's presidency in EU? Universal concession if we go by size of things which in turn reduces your concession to a miniscule quantum concession.

You always have a choice to lead your own lives and leave us alone, honestly we would not get upset or feel discarded in any way like an old boyfriend. We can make our own way in life if left alone, trust me.

You know nothing about the EU to even make that connection. The EU Presidency has nothing to do with the running of a state. Foreign policy, defense policy, monetary policy and internal running of states is not handled by the EU Presidency. It is there to Chair and manage the agenda of the EU every 6 months.

Now as for going at it alone, then you're free to do your own thing as long as you return whats not yours first.

Thats fine by me, the Cyprus Presidency can have as much power to match the EU way of doing things. It goes very well with the EU principles.

while ago Eroglu Speech to Turkish Cypriots ended.

watch out him !

I hope our Greek Cypriot neighbors will adopt a reasonable stance at the negotiations which are to be resumed on Thursday and accept the existence of another state in Cyprus which is equal to their own state and will open the way for reconciliation.

All should know that the Turkish Cypriot People are not helpless and they have alternatives.

Also Talat and Eroglu has reached agreement with President Mehmet Ali Talat to add a governmental representative into the TRNC negotiating team.
