Sad to say I don't believe this is a match for our Oracle. She is ferocious enough to tear it apart. The old Ottoman technique is required here.

Maybe gardas...But I think, once you get the foreplay right then she is putty in your hands 8)

Nikitas wrote:In Egypt, where I lived for some time, they call the man Mohammed Ali. If memory serves he was born in Kavala in Greece. His son Ibrahim is the butcher of the Peloponnese, he had been called in when the Turkish army proved incapable against the Greek irregulars during the 1821 rebellion and he proceded to methodically depopulate the area (sounds famliar?).

It was Ibrahim's excesses that led to the great powers getting involved and destroying the joint Turkish and Egyptian fleets in Navarino (Pylos). And that is why there are streets named after the admirals Derigny, Codrington, Heyden in Athens today and a square named after the British foreign minister who gave the go ahead, Canning.

Pylos harbor today is regarded as a naval memorial and no diving is allowed.

Written using the the Arabic alphabet, Mehmet, mehmed, Mohammed, Mahomed,Mahomet are all the same. The phonetics are representative of different local variations.

Yes, he was from Kavala in northern Greece and his followers were Albanian and Arnaout mountain men. All savages. Mehmet Ali also a convert, probably butchered more Ottoman troops than he did Greek revolutionaries.

In the link I provided it states that his depravities in Cyprus cause a large number of Cypriots to emigrate.

Am I on the correct forum? Sounds like Marquis de Sade '120 days of Sodom'.

I fail to see the relevance to Mehmet Ali from Kavala

It must be my age..................

Zan, you've done it again. You must appreciate that its the ancient Greeks that had maths knowledge, the current ones no nothing about differentiation or integration. They are used to saying I want all of it and I want it now. The only problem is that they can only use the fingers on one hand to count which restricts their understanding somewhat!

Sorry to disagree with you Yfred. On the contrary, it helps to concentrate ones thoughts. Like a human 'centrifuge' if you like.
