Some facts hard to take, but facts they are, as I was,nt saying the UK does,nt have its share of animal killing psychos it so does, difference is whenever possible they are brought to justice and most of the UK would kill the perps given half and chance
There are tough laws in the UK and very well funded animal shelters both charity and municipal and laws on cruelty and wilful neglect very much in place. Psycho,s and sickos will always be there sadly, but poisoning on a daily basis very rare, if 10,000 animals a year were being poisoned so horribly in the UK it would be splashed all over the news until the govt/police sorted it out. Here its not in the news and only being brought up on a regular basis by the few that do care, expats on a protest to Nicosia, Swedish xpats setting up a recue of hundreds of neglected dogs to Sweden the same for a German charity, they are being sent out of the country in order to live for crissakes.
My cats longevity is dependant on a few things here, natural things like snake bites etc, the road which we are far enough from and being sensible I have all my animals spayed, stops them wandering and more importantly producing another huge problem in Cyprus, secondly living where I do we are as of last week surrounded on a daily basis by hunters who last year in this area shot cats, then we have poison so there chances of a long life diminshed.
The UK has animal cruelty which it deals with very well, and Cyprus will always have its cruel people as well, but IF you never deal with it here and in fact ignore peoples pleas to help the neglect and cruelty then you will get antagonists. Its a simple and easy solution to get tough with the actions of many here, poison is deliberate and final.
Don,t make this yet another them and us thread as they are just tiresome boring and predictable.
