Talat Reacts to EU, BM with Letter about Constitution

The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Mehmet Ali Talat reacted strongly against the Greek Cypriot parliament that held a voting on the European Union (EU) Constitution draft on behalf of the "Cyprus Republic".

Protesting against the vote for the EU Constitution in Southern Cyprus, Talat sent a June 27 letter to prime ministers and presidents of the EU member states along with the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barosso, EU Council Secretary-General Javier Salona and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. In the letter, Talat said, "The 1959-1960 London and Zurich Agreements call for the approval of Cypriot Turks for such decisions to be taken." Talat emphasized that the approval of the EU Constitution by the Greek Representatives' Council on behalf of the 'Cyprus Republic' would not have any legal or moral grounds and the TRNC would not be bounded by any such agreements.

Its funny they remember the 1960 constitution when it suits them. On the other hand even the invasion and occupation according to them is fine and in accordance with the constitution. We should built more lunatic homes.

Didn't the UN deem the Greek Cypriots the legal government to represent the island in 64 after the Turks pulled out and made their own administrations in their enclaves?

So what's all the moaning about?

most of the ideas about controll and political ethics come from corrupt leaders so there is really no point.

There is one thing you should always remember:
It was the GC who were attacking the TC with the aim of extinction in the years before 1974.
Out of this fact you must understand that there was no "invasion" or "occupation" on the island. The action of the Turkish Armed forces was legal, based on international accepted treaties and in contrary a blessing for not less Greeks as well who were attacked by their right wing brethren.
And as a confirmation of the rightfull action of the Turkish Armed Forces: Was there any warlike action in Cyprus since 1974? And this despite a continous arms purchasing by the GC.

Yes, it's really funny! Can you imagine, the Turkish MP's and other Govermental Officers were running away just because some GC were directing their shotguns on them.
Why they did'nt wait to be shot? Would have been a nice approval of the constitution Makarios has made to please them.
Instead of this and against any international approval, these officials established their own administration in the Turkish enclaves!

Another "No Invasion"-"No occupation" fart!

You can check the "legality" of the turkish brutal invasion if you go through the UN resolutions & ECHR decisions (Cyprus Vs Turkey, Titina Vs TR, Xenides-Aresti Vs TR etc)

...and the best are yet to come!
