This occupation is completely unjustified. It has been Turkish policy since the 1950s for Cyprus to be divided. Yes, enosis was the aim of GCs, and in my mind, they had every right to be given self-determination as the overwhelming majority, but GCs no longer seek enosis, and haven't for a long time. Turkey supposedly invaded Cyprus to preserve the Constitution, when we all know, as we did back then, what rubbish that was. Turkey is now pretending it wants a solution because its plan to get recognition for a separate Turkish state on the island has failed. It is pretending because it is making demands which it knows the RoC cannot accept. There is no good reason for Turkish troops to be on Cyprus today, and if negotiations fail, they will have to be removed one way or another.
Simon, when a solution is found the so-called occupation will end. Don't forget that had TCs have as many national guard as GCs have had, there would have been just a several hundred Turkish troops in Cyprus under the defacto situation.
This is my point Insan. With current Turkish demands a solution will never be found, which means, following your logic, the occupation will never end. This is unacceptable.
