Up to 3 years imprisonment for GCs

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Dhavlos » Tue Jul 12, 2005 3:28 pm

Moose, i know he's shady, but im not gonna waste my time writing a letter to him, or anything else!!!
Neway, he's got enough problems- actually its times like this that i wished the british recognised the TRNC and could deport him and take him to trial for those tax evasion things or whatever he was accused of recently.

im going on holiday on friday, for a month so i'll tell the rest of my family....news spreads quickly with us, and im sure someone else will probably do something.

Also, now i'm even more determined that in a solution people should get their properties/land returned, and i dont care if it seems unrealistic.

The ''nothing can be done about properties'' attitude (in particular from some TCs), it is just plain out of order.

How dare people say that just after 30 years, any deeds etc.. that went before 1974, in terms of property rights should be ignored/erased/compensated etc. The people in these villages worked hard to get that land, and the chance to work it. They built thier houses, fields and their lives on that land, and because of a few political gains, and arguably selfishness or greediness on the part of some TCs, their families have been denied the chance to have part of the histroy of their family.

The people of these villages from the north, at least i can speak for my village, were dirt poor, living off the land, almost part of the family itself. it was not just an area of land they owned and could show off the deeds to people, it was not something they took lightly. The land they had was important to their survival. The land was one of the most important things to them, not nationalism, not thinking about destroying the turks, not anything like that. All they wanted was to live as they wished. It the powers that be who are to blame. They have done all this...why is it always that the 'small people' are the ones to suffer at the hands of an elite who look soley for personal gain?

No-one has the right to take something away from you. It shouldnt have happened to the TCs in the 60's and it should not be happening now.
    :x :x
........................

PS there, ive had my rant....i feel much better now. Sorry if it seems a little rude/offensive/un-PC/whatever.
Its just terrible how this can happen...there is no justice.

PPS im sure TCs feel the same about how they were treated in the 60's...kind of

Dhavlos, i have always said that all cypriots should have the right of return, i personally see it wrong that our own people wether they be gc or tc cannot go home and are obstructed by various means, but one day we will have justice and we will welcome our cypriot brothers home from the exile they have had to endure all these years.
