is this allowed?

We have recently been told by a friend that there are strange goings on at one of our villas.
Developers are building a rather large complex behind our villa and have connected a large wire to our electric box of which is running to the new complex!
Of course they are using our electric to run tools etc.
The developers are the same who built the villa, but have not asked us if they can do this.
Is this allowed? who will end up paying the massive bill? or is that obvious!
has anyone else experienced this?

It depends on whether they are tapped into the supply before or after your meter. If it is after, call the police because you will pay, if it is before and THEY don't have a meter installed, call the Electricity Authority as they are the ones being ripped off.

Police to register your complaint, EAC to measure load and confirm the theft and Lawyer to take action against the developer. Hope you got your title deeds already... :D

It’s a custom in Cyprus to get power from your closest neighbor for a year or two while building until you get your own supply. Some people go and pay 100 odd pounds after they finish building to the supplier to show their appreciation and some don’t.

The thing to remember is that when YOUR house was being built, the trades people working on it must’ve been getting power from one of your other neighbors too, so it’s something that everyone has done to erect a house.

Finally, power tools don’t consume much power so relax.

Because you are dependent on your Developer's good will, or otherwise, to obtain your Title Deeds. My Developer and I will be appearing in the same Court, next month to 'discuss' this very thing.....

Electricity power which is used during the construction of a house is different than the normal one when house is finished.
They should apply to the electricity co to provide them the special el power for their works. basis bill of el co is coming to your name then they are not allowed for sure without your written authorization.
