It's the Cyprus way.

Plain brown envelopes or cash passed under the table.

Corruption, deception and dishonesty at every level.

The thing to remember is that when YOUR house was being built, the trades people working on it must’ve been getting power from one of your other neighbors too, so it’s something that everyone has done to erect a house.

Finally, power tools don’t consume much power so relax.
What a load of 'Bullshit'; it's theft.

We had a generator for two years actually :?

With the greatest respect (and I fully appreciate your problem) I think I would be inclined to discuss the matter with the builders before taking any action against them.

Prior to any such discussion, I would seek the opinion of some person who can identify precisely what the position is regarding your supply (whether or not it is being tapped) without involving any official source.

I do hope everything pans out well for you.

Sage words Floda. :D

It is a shame they will be ignored... :?

From all that I’ve read here (seemingly emanating from Paphos?) it appears that Paphos has taken on a different character than the rest of Cyprus! :?

I’ve never heard of anyone here in Nicosia plugging into your mains box, deeds costing 20k, or creating a CD to prove proper completion for final approval!

People here just plug into one of your external power outlets to draw a bit of current if and when a power tool is needed… big deal! I doubt you need more that 100 or 200 euros worth of electricity to complete an average sized house.

I don’t know what kind of a monster people have created in the tourist areas(?) but it sounds nothing like what we experience here in Nicosia where most people are friendly and help each other. The people we were getting electricity from were even bringing us coffee and water in the summer and we did the same when the people behind us were building!

The Cyprus some of you people describe here is totally alien to me! :?
