Loads of pretty good software companies here, but there are also loads of well qualified and experienced people, so good jobs are rarely advertised.

I know scores of software companies. Why don't you use the Cyprus yellow pages or a business index, or do you expect us to do the searching for you?

First off, I'm not expecting you to do the search for me but I'm not in Cyprus right now, so I don't have access to Yellow Pages, unless there's one online that I'm not aware of. Secondly, Yellow Pages might list the software companies but it doesn't tell you which ones are good vs. bad, which ones are international vs. local, which ones are good to work for vs. not, and so on. I was hoping to save some time in my search by asking people who live in Cyprus who might know about such things. I thought forums were meant for exchange of information, no?

A lot also depends on where you will be based and which companies would be interested in your skill set.

Also, if you don't have solid commercial experience, forget it.

The guy asked for recommendations and he expected some company names! You tell him that there are lots of such good companies but give him no names. Then you give him the yellow pages as if every company listed in the yellow pages is a good company If you do know good companies and you don't list them then it seems you are not so sure about your own skills and you are afraid the competition?
