How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The TOR-M1 is more than capable of neutralising the Abraham and any other missile on the air, long before it reaches its target. Actually this is its main purpose and with 99% accuracy!

However, you are definately not aware that this is already here!
And has a range of 145 kms. As soon as the F-16s take off from their bases in Turkey and gear towards Cyprus.

The well trained, mature, experienced and defending homes and families, reservist Cypriot force of 100,000 strong men will neutralise very easily the 18-20 year old compulsory service conscripts of the Turkish Army. Professional Army? Were did you see the professionalism? 95% of the Turkish Army is composed of young compulsory service conscripts.

As for the trashy American M48 tanks of the Turkish Army, this is what they will get in their way. One of them can knock down 4-5 of the M48s before they even turn their cannons around.

Well my goodness.
I have just read this lot and must conclude that John Wayne and Hollywood has a lot to answer for. It is also painfully and scarily obvious that the antagonists have had no personal experience of armed conflict because if they had they certainly would not be talking as they are. Perhaps we should be praying to our respective gods and express our thanks that far more sensible beings hopefully decide on these matters. Is there no end to it. I am no expert but I have seen and done quite a bit in my 57 years and although I would obviously offer my services in any conflict involving Cyprus (which will not happen) my expertise is such that it could still be used in Naval conflict. I would urge you all to Listen to Mr cannedmoose and Mr brother.
We would not stand a chance against the might of Turkish forces and hardware, you must accept my word for that so please let this be the last post on this matter and turn your attentions to more peaceful subjects. To put it another way – GROW UP!
Apologies for the high & mighty attitude and provoking tone but this is far too serious a subject. I will not be responding to any further posts here.

I agree Michael and I'll follow your lead by stepping gracefully away from further talk of war... it will benefit noone.

Have to finish by saying Kifeas, the TOR-M1 is a short-tange theatre defence missile, it cannot be modified to have a range of 145kms. The missile I pictured was not an Abraham, it was an AG-88 HARM anti-radiation missile, designed to lock onto and take out radar stations and integrated radar-missile systems like the TOR-M1. The chance of a missile from the TOR-M1 being able to shoot down a small HARM missile travelling at mach 3 are zero... a slow and large cruise missile maybe, the chances are actually 60%. You also seem to foresee a major battle of tanks... as I said before, air power vs. a tank? No contest re.

Mr. Goumas, sorry to disappoint you but we will not use your services. The Cypriot Army doesn't accept defeatist reservist soldiers! With such ideas you will definately be very dangerous for the moral of the rest of the troops. If you like to help then maybe there will be some job for you in the cooking stations to peel off the potatoes for the troops.

Moose has no clue of what he is talking about! He is simply doing anti-Cypriot propaganda!

Kifeas, you're pathetic. The same old Cypriot 'you don't agree with me, therefore you are a traitor' argument rolled out yet again. People like you will never learn... as for me being anti-Cypriot, you're more anti-Cypriot by trying to make your compatriots believe the distorted information you're promoting here... which are actually numbers that you seem to have pulled out of your backside rather than researched in any way... that makes you far more dangerous.

I was not referring to a modified TOR-M1 when I talked about 145 kms range. Perhaps you need to look at it more carefully! I was only talking about this.

Sorry to disappoint, the S300s are in Crete re... so they'd have to fly about 1,000 kms to do any damage...

Now you really are promoting distortion of truth...

If the S300s were here and installed, do you not think that Turkish reconnaisance would have spotted them?

I didn't say the man is a traitor. I just said that he is demoralised and has a defeatist attitude. That's all!
Pathetic? Me? Look in your mirror! 8)
