It's more exciting talking about Emma's happy pills, or the lack of.

but, back on topic: -

I did find Lidl good value for money when in England though so if they open up in Pafos I'd be interested.

There is one in Paralimni and in Larnaca both up and ready but not opened I believe they are opening up all at the same time across the island.

Cheap German food etc but will it be cheap here I wonder as the other supermarket chains cannot be all that pleased   This is only heresay but someone told us Aldi is trying to come here too

Don,t you just love competition as a consumer :D

Lidl will most certainly force existing supermarkets to reduce their inflated prices.
Im given to understand that Cypriot supermarkets are the most profitable in Europe.
My source is respected and can not be revealed , but it would be interesting to know if indeed this is the case.

Anything or anybody that helps to bring down the price of food will be most welcome.

It's about time some of these local supermarkets had some real competition and the consumers would benefit.

I suppose you like big macs then?
"Becaust its German it all tastes crap" Lidl is an international brand with a very good name in europe.. theres an organisation in Germany similar to "which" in the UK that test products and a lot of what Lidl sell get high rating - its not just fruit and veg, they sell a whole range of stuff gardening tools, drills, spanners, tv,s etc
A lot of their stuff comes in batches, once thats sold they may not get another for a while but theres a varied and changing selection.
Theres a stigma in the UK about what supermarkets are the best , but i bet thay dont mind now theres a recession?
Fruit and veg is usually outsourced which means it isnt German which is maybe the problem!!
But as the lady says most things are cheaper!!!
