Are we amassing contacts at the expense of genuine friendships, what do you think?

Anybody else here hate Facebook as much as I do? I reluctantly joined after receiving invitations, and was immediately repelled by the flurry of virtual "gifts" and pesterings to join various causes. Now I never enter it except on the rare occasions someone scribbles on my wall. That seldom happens, as I've made it clear I can't stand the site.

I was reading an article stating that if you smile Facebook smiles with you - frown and you're all alone.

I don't do any "social networking" on the Internet apart from e-mailing long-standing friends.

Cyprus Forum has put me in touch with a few like-minded individuals (concerned for Cyprus' future) whom I hope to get to know better over the coming years. No hurry ...

Generally, I take my time getting to know people, but I like to hang on to those who start to matter .... even if we sometimes lose touch for months/years.
