Erm ... I think you have misunderstood! :?

Not liking one's own company means one does not like being on their own as they don't know how to occupy themselves or they don't like thinking or reflective on life. It does not necessarily mean other people don't like your company.

Have I made myself clear? .... or should I resort to text-talk?

well, I am glad we cleared that up! Thanks for the analysis, Oracle. I suppose you are right in some ways, I would rather be around people than be on my own but isn't that also the definition of being social? We are only human after all, right?

It says twitter is 40% babble, and I am not suprized that it is n't 50 or 60%. But the truth of the matter is, if somebody babbles you unsubscribe to them so they do not flood what you see. You only subscribe to people who know what they are saying and point you to relavent sources.

Yes, being social means you are not expected to be happy as a hermit.

But, you are more useful/socially interesting if you interest yourself first. If you always need others to stimulate you, they will soon tire of your lack of constructive input. So, being social is about giving not just taking ...

We are only human after all, right?

That should mean we are creative and reflective ... things which bring something to a social-group gathering. You probably need time for these; quality time, alone time ...

Hmmm... I think your anthropological argument is unsound! At the base, human-kind is a communal animal... before intellect or cognitive processes are even considered. All interaction is based in "need"... if you didn't "need" to interact, you wouldn't, therefore such portals as this one would be superfluous... so, Oracle, that makes you as needy as anyone, doesn't it?

As for stimulus, if you are content with stimulating yourself, enjoy! I prefer mutual stimulation however and am very capable of giving as well as taking... you are stimulating that need, so, thank you!
