Turks Call to Hang British Tourist for Insulting Ataturk ...

Postby Oracle » Wed Aug 19, 2009 12:17 am

 Typical British tourist meets comeuppance with typical Turks ...

Safely deported for flashing manhood at father of Turks. Fatwa to follow him from disgruntled Ataturk-idolizers who want him hanged.

“The police were there in minutes and took him away in handcuffs. To be honest he’s lucky it was the police that took him – Ataturk is the father of the Turkish Republic and a national hero – the local boys wanted to kill him for being so insulting – what is it about the British that they seem to enjoy being so rude and disrespectful.”

They're told when in Rome do as the Romans do; he was probably just trying to behave like a local.

Problem is, some Brits behave like "Romans" wherever they go. This time this "lad" got more than he bargained for meeting like-minded hooligans.

What do you find so comforting in that quote? Sometimes it takes one lunatic (the tourist) to highlight the other lunatics (Ataturk fanatics).

However, for some Turks, the punishment was not severe enough and a Facebook group titled ‘String up Strong’ has been set up, calling for him to be hanged.

But, so long as you have found some reason to continue with your blind faith, I don't want to burst your bubble....

Well, Kemal is usually depicted on horseback and according to TC newspaper reports his mount is a stallion. Obviously his mount is allowed to flash in perpetuity, so some tourists decide to return the compliment.

There is no hatred here ... just a laughable sense of looking at the absurd (tourist) being hounded by the pathetic (Ataturk fanatics).

If it disturbs you so, perhaps you need to re-evaluate why you blindly revere statues of a dictator ....
