LARNACA - Around 300 fans are expected to travel with APOEL as the team gears up for its historic clash against Copenhagen in the play-off round of the Champions League.
The supporters, which are being forced to cough up around €730 each for just a 32 hour stay in the Danish capital, will not be wanting to miss the chance to support their team which will miss the suspended Joorst Broerse and Savvas Poursaitides.
Around 150 fans will travel with the team with a direct flight to the Danish capital while other fans are expected to make their own way to Denmark.
The flight is set to leave at around Monday midday and arrive at around 8pm (CET) in Denmark.
According to APOEL officials, Greek and Cypriot nationals living in Denmark are expected to arrive at the stadium to swell up the number of the travelling fans.
APOEL began their Champions League campaign with a 5-0 aggregate win over Streymur of the Faroe Islands before inflicting an elimination of Serbian champions Partizan Belgrade.
The Danish media welcomed the draw after it was announced that Copenhagen would face APOEL while officials of the Danish club have been more tentative in their comments about the Cypriot champions.
Last season, Anorthosis Famagusta made history by becoming the first club from the island to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League.
This year however has been a disappointing one so far for Cypriot football with Omonia, Anorthosis and APOP all exiting Europe early on and the national team suffering a 6-1 defeat to Albania in a recent friendly.
