Maybe there is a simple explanation- like he messed up the hair of an official's wife or daughter.

emma ruby .... have you ever watched Midnight Express?

It seems you believe in fairy tales Oracle. I often give you more credit than this. Its not the first time you quoted the tale of 'Midnight Express' well knowing the lies in it.

What part of it was not true which can alter the material substance of the theme?

The guy later admitted in an interview that what was portrayed in the film was not 100% true. I need to do some digging up the info - providing I know where to look.

No one claimed it was 100% true. That doesn't mean it wasn't very close to the truth of what the Turkish penal system is like (but I agree it may be even worse!). But, the Midnight Express theme was applicable in the context of such material deprivation as Lana portrayed.

Someone of your caliber should not use Hollywood as evidence. For someone who has done so much research should not stoop........

Dont do it again Oracle.

As to the penal system, I am not an advocate of the soft touch for criminals.......of any kind. If I am ever guilty I will take my punishment and not whinge like that prat.

If a dog has done a poo ... that is what you show it as evidence for its mistake!

The evidence has to be of a "calibre" to fit the understanding of the subject you wish to enlighten ...

The Midnight Express as a pointer to Turkish prisons was for emma ruby and, as such, was appropriate .... instead of something more cognitively demanding.

Of course, there is a huge corpus from Amnesty International etc which shows the Turkish Penal system is even worse than that depicted by Hollywood .... but you don't want me raking that up and spoiling Lana's lovely thread, now do you?

You dont need my help to ruin antones thread Oracle. You are the master of it (oops;mistress).

The guy said it was exagerated and you still carp on. I give up.

Lana, I apologise on Oracles behalf.

Midnight Express was nothing but a cheap comedy!

First of all it was made by Armenians!

Second, the original guy who the real story belonged to was interviewed and admitted that it was mostly nothing but crap just like everyone already knew.

Last but not least, I love the parts when these Armenian actors play the "evil Turkish" cops and actually try and speak Turkish, which they obviously cannot do, but hey who is going to be able to tell right?!

Just shows how sad and pathetic the people behind it actually were in their incredibly shit attempt to make a propaganda film, very sad really.

It turned out to be a cheap comedy garbage and anyone who would take it as a reference has gotta be dumber than the producers themselves.

Let's also not forget about the guy who got beaten to death by prison guards the other week in Belgium!

Yes that is BELGIUM!

They fist claimed he had "choked" on his food and autopsy revealed otherwise...

GR, we all know what Turkish prisons are like. They are no paradise.and that is how they should be.

In the UK, they are no better and you know that anyway. An acquantance who was Her Majesties guest there told me that if you go in straight you come out bent. And that is in the UK. You know the rest. Training camp for all sorts of crimes. Now I suggest we Leave Lana's thread alone.

I guess Oracle will begin a thread on the delights of Turkish prisons. You can carry on there!!

I just find it weird when otherwise intelligent people, waste their breath arguing over the “niceness” of a prison!

Regards to your family too. :)
