Thanks for the pics, moosey, saw already few on TV but these are really nice!
:-) I've heard they named the fighting parties "Red" and "Blue" for this celebration, cause there is already tension in the EU between UK and France and they did not want to cause any further trouble or someone feeling bad.
(erm..., who won this battle back then?? )

He probably got an A* in his history GCSE... guess it shows what GCSEs are worth these days...

As for the red/blue issue, I don't believe it was due to the current tension between the UK and French governments', it's due to political correctness gone mad. Neither the French nor Spanish governments would have been the slightest bit miffed if it had been a historical re-enactment as everyone knows who was involved. For God's sake, we've got Waterloo station in London, Trafalgar Square, Nelson's column... all of which celebrate victories over Napoleon.

It's what I hate about so much history today, it's sanitised for fear of upsetting someone. Nonetheless, as you said, it was a great spectacle. The big irony of which was that the biggest ship of the 157 modern warships present was the French flagship Charles de Gaulle which positively dwarfed HMS Invincible and HMS Ocean. How Nelson would have been proud...
