Yeni Bogazici municipality together with the Cyprus Turkish Caricaturists Association and the Caricaturist Organization Federation’s Cyprus Representatives are hosting the 2nd International Aysergi-Pulya Cartoonists meeting.

According to information released by the Cyprus Turkish Caricaturists Association the ‘meeting’ organized within the framework of the Yeni Bogazici Festival began at 8.30 pm tonight.

160 works belonging to 16 cartoonists will be on display at the Yeni Bogazici Festival Grounds.

16 caricaturists from 6 different countries were invited to join the event.

The foreign participants will decide amongst themselves who will be given ‘this years Foreign Cartoonists’ award, ‘this year’s local cartoonist award’ and ‘Golden Pulya’ award.

Separately, the cartoonists who display their works during the ‘2nd Professional Cartoonists Exhibition’ will be awarded with the ‘Silver Pulya’.

During the meeting a variety of issue such as cartooning events around the world and matters regarding cartoonist and drawings will be discussed.

The second Yenibogazici Pulya Festival was inaugurated last night.
The festival which will last for ten days will see many sporting, cultural, musical and artistic events taking place.

The festival began with a cortege that started from the Mormenekse village and ended at the Yenibogazici Festival grounds.

Speaking at the opening the mayor of Yenibogazici Cemal Biren said he was very proud that he was able to organize the second Pulya festival, which carries the name of the famous bird in the region.

He said he aimed to promote the region both internationally and locally within this ten day period.

Noting that the 2’nd International Aysergi Pulya Caracaturists meeting will liven up the festival Mr. Biren thank everyone who contributed in organizing the festival.
